Calligraphy Workshop for Beginners
Join Jess at this workshop learning the art of modern calligraphy whilst creating beautifully handwritten cards for any occasion
A brand new venue for me to be teaching at! I worked with the lovely team earlier this year hand painting florals on their outside pods!

Time: 6PM - 8PM (please arrive 15 minutes before)
In person class / max group of 18 people / 2 hours
What's Included?
Enjoy a complimentary glass of Oad Street House Special Sparking Cordial on arrival. Each attendee will receive a full calligraphy set (worth £12) to use and take home after the workshop. Including:
- Practice Paper & Work Cards
- 1 x speedball nib holder
- 1 x Nikko G Nib
- 1 x 15ml black ink
- 3 x A6 Blank White Cards & Envelopes
More information on the Workshop
During this workshop you will learn the art of modern calligraphy, using nib and ink. The workshop will focus on mastering basic strokes and practising letterforms, encouraging your own style to flourish! At the end of the class we will have the basic calligraphy skills to write handwritten cards. The workshop duration will be 2 hours taught by calligrapher Jess (Boards By Jess) and workshop price includes the cost of your own calligraphy starter kit. The workshop will include an introduction, group exercises, as well as plenty of time for 1 to 1 help or guidance throughout. This workshop is great creatives who are new to calligraphy and looking to learn the basic skills.
Added Extras
Oad Street will have their bar open throughout the event to purchase drinks of choice. Excitingly, there will also be an opportunity to shop cards, calligraphy inks and card stock to make more gift tags or place names after the workshop. Card Payments only.
About Jess
Based in Deal, Kent - 'Boards By Jess' is a creative studio specialising in Calligraphy, hand-painted Signs and Illustration. Since 2018 I've been practising calligraphy and lettering, working with local businesses and couples to elevate events and spaces with my hand-painted/hand-written artwork. I’m proud to say I've created pieces for over 300 weddings and more than 150 businesses in and around the South East.

*Please wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting ink on (incase of any accidents!)
